Revisit Theia, the doomed planet as the search for a technology to save the people from the sharing its fate.
Exodus from Theia

I have a care and a wish that my people will survive—if the exodus takes them to another universe, another time, it is my duty to see to their safety. Over 1,500 years after the Impact Era, Toth, the city under the mountain, the city created when the Guild was exiled, thrived. Technology finally advanced far enough to make the breakthrough that the Guild sought: the Universal Portal. Theia is doomed, on an inevitable collision course with Ga’aa. But now, the power exists to generate a rift in space-time. The portal may allow an exodus from the doomed planet by creating a bridge to another dimension. However, the rift requires tremendous power, and with it, great risk. A journey to another dimension is possible, but the destination is uncertain. It poses a quandary: stay and face certain destruction, or gamble on unproven technology by stepping into the unknown.
Toth & Guild
Civilization is also on the brink of a rift. Various factions vie for power and control of the city and the planet’s resources. A civil war is brewing between those in Toth who did not believe in the Guild’s plans, and those members of the Guild still working toward an exodus. Guild Security remained loyal to the Toth Science Guild, while the Toth Armed Services had the leverage to grant victory to either side.
Toth’s adherents, the core of the Toth Guild of Science, have been openly scorned by many different groups. I find it understandable—rejection of the technology that sealed the fate of Theia. Among many, there is little faith that the science that caused the problems Theiacians face would generate a solution. Even if research reached a point where a stable window of space-time could be opened, what lies beyond is devoid of certainty at this point. Does one take an unknown path if it leads nowhere?
After the Exodus from Theia, the fate of those Theiacians is unclear. Whether or not the Universal Portal can be revived, the challenge facing the settlers in the new dimension will be to rebuild a civilization from a basic, technologically crude starting point. Their survival is not assured, and perhaps they will sink into primitive savagery for an extended era before once again rising to the level of advanced civilization they once knew.
